Day 82: Earth Wind & Fire - I Am
Album cover courtesy of ARC/Columbia
One of the best things I’ve discovered in the course of this project is my love of Earth Wind & Fire. I already reviewed them so I don’t feel too bad about making this one short. I’m still on a weekend away so I don’t particularly want to spend too much time writing today, but I do want to listen to Earth Wind & Fire, so here we are.
I am is another powerhouse of an album. It was their ninth studio release that came out in 1969, and it’s your tried-and-tested spiritually tinged joyful funk/R&B/disco music, as you would expect. “After the Love Has Gone” is a beautiful Maurice White ballad that you’d need to have an ice-cold heart not to enjoy and“Star” is in my view one of the best feel-good songs of all time, but there’s really no skips on this one, it’s just beautiful.
In my previous one, I said Earth Wind & Fire is a band to listen to when you want to have a nice day, and I stand by that. I Am is another record of Earth Wind & Fire bangers. 9/10, I am such a fan. I love Earth Wind & Fire. By far the best thing I’ve discovered throughout my project, it’s just a good time all around.
